Jenna Hunterson (Keri Russell) is a waitress in a diner that specializes in fresh baked pies which she is in charge of making. In the opening scene Jenna takes a home pregnancy test and discovers that she is going to have a baby, something she is dead set against having, but having an abortion is an unthinkable option to her so she has squared it with herself that she is going to give birth to this child, only she is determined not to be happy about it. Character Development |
Several of the characters adapt and change a great deal throughout this picture. Jenna (Keri Russell) has the most dramatic transformation. |
Acting |
All around there was some great acting in his film, most of the work was done solely on Keri Russell’s shoulders, but each of the cast played their niche parts well. Nathan Fillion was believable as the heartfelt doctor and Andy Griffith stole the show with the despicably nice businessman. And it was an extra special treat to see Adrienne Shelly one more time on screen. It was horrendous what happened to her in real life and it is beyond sad that she will not be able to direct or act ever again, which she did both in this film, including a writing credit for the script. |
Overview |
I think there are few movies that could ever be considered this good or better. Adrienne Shelly was brilliant in its creation. She acted. She directed. She was the script writer and she even co-wrote one of the songs that appeared in the movie. |
