RE: the removal of 6 books of the award winner author known as Dr. Seuss.
Just check out Amazon.com website where the price of his book shot up like a rocket:
Quoting from the seller's page of "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street":
"Pulitzer-prize winning Dr. Seuss needs no introduction."
The short review:
"Dr. Seuss's very first book for children! From a mere horse and wagon, young Marco concocts a colorful cast of characters, making Mulberry Street the most interesting location in town. Dr. Seuss's signature rhythmic text, combined with his unmistakable illustrations, will appeal to fans of all ages, who will cheer when our hero proves that a little imagination can go a very long way. (Who wouldn't cheer when an elephant-pulled sleigh raced by?) Now over seventy-five years old, this story is as timeless as ever. And Marco's singular kind of optimism is also evident in McElligot's Pool."
And if I am not mistaken "McElligot's Pool" is to be removed too. A story that deals with mostly fish, fish! Have we all gone mad. The review here from Amazon states that the "story is as timeless as ever". Well, just in a few years after the Obamas had the CAT AND THE HAT to the White House you have sadly put to rest that part of the story being timeless and making that not true. "Now over seventy-five years old"
But it is not too late to wake up from being woke and have a little of the heart this great man had. My voice might be small, only I am reminded of a Dr. Seuss story that I would like to repeat to you, where enough small voices spoke up from all over the place and those pesty critics that thought they were always correct quickly learned of their mistake.
You cannot appease a mob by giving in. They smell blood in the water and you throw them an arm and a leg. What really has been gained here? A whole host of fans have been displeased, the national day of reading that falls on Dr. Seuss's Birthday no longer matters and has been lost, and now those busy do-good bees plan to target the "Cat and the Hat" as if they can go after a story about fishing, then why not go for the goal and take out that cat wearing that funny red and white hat. Because I bet, we can find a panel of experts and educators to find something very wrong about that.
