Kill the guards before they expect anything.

"Captain?  Is that you? Have you come to relieve us?"

Taking two daggers in hand you throw and connect them with the guards. Unable to ring the alarm bell they both harmlessly fall to the floor. You call for Stilgard and he comes dragging the body of the captain.

"Can you pick the lock to the treasure room?" you ask.

"No need. I think the captain has the key," Stilgard said ruffling through the captain's pockets.

"Well, does he?" you ask.

"Patience." Stilgard said.

"We are sitting ducks up here in this tower." you say.

"I think I got it." Stilgard said producing a large copper key.

"Well don't just sit there. Get the stone so we can get out of here. You are the only one who know what it looks like. You do know what it look like?" you ask.

"I have never seen it, but I will know it when I find it." Stilgard said.

"Then find it!" you say

You stand watch as Stilgard open the door to the treasure room and steps inside. The moments slowly inch by as you wait.

"I got it." Stilgard said carrying a blue orb. It magically pulsed in his bare hands.

"Are you sure that is it?" you ask.

"I'm sure." Stilgard said.

"Why is it glowing?" you ask.

"The stone pulses when you walk in the true direction." Stilgard said.

"How do you make it stop?" you ask. "It is going to give us away."

"The heat of my hands activates it. I will put it into my vest pocket. It should be safe there." Stilgard said.

Leave the palace.
