1. Melt chocolate with hot coffee. Add syrup and mix well, then cool.
2. Cream shortening and sugar, then add eggs, one at a time. Finish with vanilla extract, sifted flour and baking powder.
3. Add chocolate mixture.
4. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 35 minutes.
